Ti 6-2-4-2 (Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo)

Ti 6-2-4-2 (Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo, UNS R54620) is a near-alpha titanium alloy developed for high-temperature service, combining high strength with excellent creep resistance and thermal stability up to approximately 540°C (1000°F). DASM produces Ti 6-2-4-2 ingots lot by lot through its PAM-ISM hybrid continuous melting process: plasma arc melting melts and alloys the charge, including the refractory molybdenum addition, and induction skull melting in a water-cooled copper crucible homogenizes the melt before continuous vertical withdrawal, with no crucible contamination. Standard ingots measure Ø230 mm × 700-2,800 mm, with chemistry verified by OES, O/N and C/S analysis and full traceability from raw material lot to heat and ingot number. The ingots are suited to R&D, trial melting and qualification programs, and as input stock for VAR remelting, forging and hot rolling; customer approval and downstream validation depend on the application.
