RECYCLED MATERIALNICKEL
Hastelloy C-276 (Alloy C-276)
Hastelloy C-276 (Alloy C-276, UNS N10276) is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten alloy containing 15-17% molybdenum, 14.5-16.5% chromium and 3-4.5% tungsten, and is one of the most widely used alloys for severe corrosive environments. Its high molybdenum content gives outstanding resistance to reducing acids such as hydrochloric and sulfuric acid, as well as to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress-corrosion cracking, and it is one of the few materials that withstand wet chlorine gas, hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide. Its very low carbon content preserves corrosion resistance in the as-welded condition, so post-weld heat treatment is not required. Compared with Hastelloy C-22, it has lower chromium and higher molybdenum, favoring reducing rather than strongly oxidizing media. Typical applications include chemical process reactors, heat exchangers and evaporators, flue gas desulfurization and other pollution-control systems, oil and gas production equipment, pulp and paper bleaching tanks, and pharmaceutical vessels. DASM supplies Hastelloy C-276 as vacuum-melt quality (VQ) feedstock: every piece is sorted and analyzed to ASTM chemistry, cut to size and shot-blasted on all surfaces for direct furnace charging.
