RECYCLED MATERIALNICKEL
Hastelloy C-22 (Alloy 22)
Hastelloy C-22 (Alloy 22, UNS N06022) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy containing 20-22.5% chromium, 12.5-14.5% molybdenum and 2.5-3.5% tungsten, designed for corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing media. Compared with Hastelloy C-276, its higher chromium content improves resistance to oxidizing environments such as nitric acid, wet chlorine and oxidizing chloride solutions, while molybdenum and tungsten give outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride stress-corrosion cracking. Its thermal stability allows welded structures to be used in the as-welded condition without post-weld heat treatment. Typical applications include chemical process equipment handling mixed acids, pharmaceutical and acetic acid reactors, pumps and valves, pulp and paper bleaching vessels, flue gas desulfurization and other pollution-control systems, and diaphragms for ultra-high-purity gas valves. DASM supplies Hastelloy C-22 as vacuum-melt quality (VQ) feedstock: every piece is sorted and analyzed to ASTM chemistry, cut to size and shot-blasted on all surfaces for direct furnace charging.
